I received my front and rear Watts link plus the rear cross bars early this week. I spent quite a bit of time researching before I bought the kits. The only drawback for me was the cost. At almost $3K, I really needed to be confident that it would be worth the investment.
IT WAS!
My first impression when I opened up the boxes was WOW! The components are beautifully made, the cadmium plating is s definite plus, and the care taken with the packaging was impressive. I spent about 10 - 12 hours working on it over the past few days. I'd never seen one in person before, so all I had to go on were the installation instructions. I read through everything several times and ended up having to remove the rear watts bracket because I hadn't paid attention to which way the zerk fitting was pointing. That was the only real slowdown, other than the heat in west central Florida in late June (97 degrees with about 85% humidity). Given better weather and now that I've done it once, I'm sure I could get it all done in a single day.
My wife and I took it for a test run this evening. She noticed the difference from the co-pilots seat at the first street I turned on. I had not told her it would help decrease the leaning. She said - "I can tell a difference already, it didn't lean around that corner." I thought that would only be a secondary benefit but for her it is a huge one. After our test ride, about 20 miles of back roads and one state highway at 65mph, she told me it isn't scary for her anymore (the leaning always made her think I was going too fast around corners).
I definitely noticed a much more relaxed drive. I still have the Sheppard steering box, but I must have one of the good ones. I've got about an inch or so of play. It felt like a lot more than that before the watts kits. It really is like driving a different coach.
We'll be putting about 3K miles on it over the next couple of months and we'll be towing a GMC Envoy, so I'll be getting much more hands-on time with it.
Thank you for such a fine product!
